YAQUBI
The Peaceful Village

Yaqubi is a beautiful village of Swabi District. It is situated near
Yar Hussain on Adena-Lahor road. This website is about the village and the people of Yaqubi. The people of  Yaqubi live a traditional rural life. Religious festivals like Eid ul Fitar, Eid ul Azhaa are celebrated with religious energetics and passions. Other festivals and ceremonies like marriages, engagements, etc. are also celebrated with traditional pomp and show. Beating the drum (''dholkey'', in local dialect) has been one of the amazing trends followed up till now in marriage ceremonies.In agricultural field, the major crops like Wheat, Tobacco, Maize, Sunflower, Rice, Sugar cane, Mustard, Potatoes, and all types of vegetables are cultivated here..
    Originally Yaqubi was established by Dalazaks, a tribe which occupied the Peshawar valley upto the end of 15th century and who were later in dislodged by the yousafzais.The ancestors of the present pukhtoon population of this village came from Yarhussain in 1850 round about. Some Gujjars and Awans were already  living there as tenants of pukhtoons since occupation of this land from Dalazaks. The existance of a mound(derae)at the North of the village,where, from excavation statues of Gandhara civilization have been found,points to the fact that this is a very ancient village.
This website is about the village and the people of Yaqubi. This is a peaceful place and we hope people will work for the development of the village.
